Cement consumption in the domestic market increased by 11.1% in July, confirming the growth trend of the last three months, AICCOPN – Association of Construction and Public Works Industrialists said today.

“In cumulative terms, since the beginning of the year, the increase is 4.7%, raising the consumption of cement in the domestic market to 1.64 million tons,” says a statement from the association.

According to the document, “In the first seven months of 2018, 8,620 new building permits and rehabilitation of residential buildings were issued by the Municipalities, which represents an increase of 22.6% year-on-year.”

“With regard to the licensing of fires in new buildings, there is a 38.3% increase year-on-year for a total of 11,404 dwellings,” said the statement.

AICCOPN underlines that “the new credit granted by financial institutions for housing purchase in the first seven months rose by 26.4% year-on-year to 5.69 billion euros”.

“In turn, the stock of credit granted by financial institutions to construction and real estate companies fell by 4.9% year-on-year in July,” the statement said.

The average value of the estimated bank home valuation in July was € 1,187 per m2, which represents a 6.3% increase year on year. In apartments, there was a 6.7% increase to € 1,252 per m2 and in houses there was a 5.6% increase to € 1,102 per m2.

In the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, “there was a 26.0% increase in licensed fires in new construction until July”.

“Of these, 70.8% are T3 or higher, 23.6% T2 and 5.6% lower. As for house bank valuation values ​​in this region, in July there was a year-on-year increase from 7.9% to € 1,468 per square meter, ”concludes the AICCOPN statement.
